* UPDATE:
Interview...VTV News 6pm
ch 9 ( airing Tuesday Aug 8 )
Unfortunately the Gypsy Mermaid was reminded (via email) directly after the interview aired,
'This is formal notice that you have been spoken to regarding operating without authorization on Vancouver Park Board Land and will be summoned to appear in a court of law for breaking Park Board By-Laws the next time that you are found on Park Board Property'

translated:
you must have authorization, as
we have told you.
However, upon researching the matter:
there are no permits available
to use any
Vancouver Park Board Property to
make any money in any business venture!
No type of vending permits whatsoever!
(with the small exception of hand
selected, pre-approved artists for the small area in Stanley Park)
Even Buskers must be approved, and
only in certain areas.
I thought Lord Stanley gave the park land to all peoples to use and enjoy freely...
Apparently the person to speak to regarding
this matter is Alison Dempsky (604) 257-8437, regarding decisions of this
matter and changing particular by-laws.
Just one mermaid's
thoughts, no malice intended. The people at the Parks Board are just
doing their job!
The City of Vancouver also apparently has a challenge with any form of entrepreneurialism on the sidewalks, ( a very small % of vendors of pre-approved businesses are selected from a 'draw' at the beginning of the year... and that's it! )
On top of that there
is no vendor category
for any type of massage.(
I would be happy to pay the vendor's fee for authorization/rental of the
tiny space on the sidewalk/or permit), but
there is nothing available... something to do with the Health Department
dissaproving ?!

This form of massage,
(chair) is readily available throughout the US, in public
places/parks/etc.
It is quick, efficient
and affordable.
Why
not in Vancouver's Parks and public places?
Massage
only creates happy, soothed, refreshed and energized people! That are ready
to deal with life around them, ( with re-newed
vigor ), once again!
(Shoppers,
travellers, tourists, business people, everyone!)
Wouldn't we all rather
have happy, soothed people around us,
rather than stressed
out, ready to blow types?
Again this is just one mermaid's opinion, no malice intended. Thank you for taking the time to read of my frustrations with Red Tape and trying to keep the entrepreneurial spirit alive!
